RACER CODE OF CONDUCT
Ski to Sea is built on community, sportsmanship and respect. Our volunteers, public safety partners and community organizations work hard to create a safe and positive experience for all participants. We ask every racer to uphold the values that make this event possible.
EXPECTED CONDUCT
All racers are required to:
- Follow all directions from race officials, volunteers and civil authorities.
- Stay on the marked course unless instructed otherwise by race officials.
- Treat volunteers, spectators, other racers and community partners with respect at all times.
- Compete safely and avoid interfering with or obstructing other participants.
- Offer assistance to another racer in an emergency and notify race officials as soon as possible so the situation can be addressed.
- Report any accidents, injuries or unsafe conditions to race officials as soon as possible.
- Yield to emergency vehicles and follow the instructions of medical personnel at all times.
- Ensure their equipment is safe, in good working order and appropriate for race conditions.
PROHIBITED CONDUCT
The following behaviors are strictly prohibited and may result in immediate disqualification and removal from the event:
- Conduct that shows disrespect toward officials, volunteers or other racers, including aggression, harassment or abusive behavior.
- Failure to follow instructions from race officials, volunteers or public safety personnel.
- Use, possession or distribution of illicit substances or performance enhancing drugs. Medically necessary prescriptions are permitted.
- Consumption of alcohol or cannabis while on course, in parks or in any public area associated with the race.
- Any behavior that endangers participants, volunteers, spectators or the public.
Law enforcement may be notified when required.
